Log-in/Break-up by Awilda Rodríguez Lora and André Austvoll |
||
André Austvoll and Awilda Rodriguez Lora are core members of D Underbelly, an artist collective currently based in NYC. They were invited by Baraka de Soleil to collaborate for S'kin Deep (commissioned by Dixon Place). D Underbelly worked together for four months developing the piece. During that time André and Awilda shared their thoughts on incorporating technology into their performances. They've both been developing dance films and using digital technology as complements to their dance work. After finishing their residency in NYC they returned to their homes (Norway & California). They started their Skype collaboration in the summer of 2009. On January 23 and 24 they premiered their piece Log-in/Break-up at the Danses Hus in Norway as part of their New Choreographers Dance Festival. Log-in/Break-up was an experiment by two dancers that wanted to challenge the way we create choreography and connect to each other. Replacing the "studio rehearsal" space with web video collaboration in two different spaces. They met at 9:00am PST and 6:00pm CET once a week for two hours from August 2009 to January 2010. |
